iPhone question?
this phone is gonna be available on July 11 this year in the states. but here, i don’t know.
when i checked the website of globe telecom (official partner of apple), i learned that it might be released (even) later this year.
I really want to have an iPhone now. It might sound conceited but I don’t wanna wait any longer than Jully 11. T_T
What am I gonna do? :
1) My aunt is currently in the States.. do you think I should just ask her to buy one for me? but is that okay? I mean, can I use smart instead of globe? or is it a requirement that i buy the phone here in the Philippines to have a host network (globe)?
2) Probably by September, iPhone is already out in Singapore.. (by the way, we’ll be going there this September) I heard from a friend that gadgets are cheaper there than here (they’re not just dummies.. they’re original). Is that good?
3) You think I should just wait for that thing to come here in the Philippines? But they price important goods 2x the original price!
by the way,
thank you for reading. =)
I just learned that an unlocked iPhone is not available for sale in the US. You can only buy something like that in Europe, but it costs like 40,000 or more.
But then, having it unlocked here in the Philippines would cost me more. (like the same or double the price of a regular 3g iPhone)

Due to the high thrift rates for electronics here, the price will go up a lot. Plus the hype will also hike the price up a little. If it gets released around December, expect it to go up even more.
You could get it cheaper from the US or Singapore, but they’re going to be locked to their respective service providers, and you’ll have to have it unlocked. If you don’t mind losing the support, I’d suggest you do this. I asked my aunt in the states to buy a digicam for me, and I saved over P10,000

buy iPhone from the States that is unlocked, or you can have it here unlocked if your Aunt give it to you unlocked.
I know you like that iPhone brand but in my opinion it’s just waste of money, you’re paying more for the brand name and for a product that comes up with new hip model almost yearly..,I think HP brands are cheaper and reliable, Apple…hummm…it’s just a name….hey, anyway it’s my opinion, I think if you want something go for it, it would be better if it’s a gift:)

I agree as to what the other says, it has to be unlocked first.
I own an iphone, legally bought but not yet legally distributed (haha, catch me if you can). I pretty much can do anything except downloading directly from the net/apple – the store told me NEVER to do it or it will get blocked. And gps and maps and internet won’t work unless I am connected to the telecom provider. Better wait for the launch.

the iphone has now reduced it’s price to $199. so i guess it’s better for you if you buy it here (US). make the conversion to peso, and it’s waay cheaper. the thing is, in order to avail that, your aunt would have to be subscribed with the carrier att, and she has to have, atleast, the 69dollar phone plan and locked in to that for 2 years. if she’s on the 59dollar phone plan (which is the lowest), then she will have to upgrade. which means an additional 10 dollars to her monthly cellphone bill.
however, if you’re aunt is not with att, then you might have to wait a while. (sometime this year, i think), for iphone to be available to other carriers. if that’s the case, then buy your iphone somewhere else, since you can’t wait further than july.
