As of now it is a hot new phone. Prices for new phones are expensive. Verizon will probably never get the iPhone. iPhone is made for GSM network. Although Apple's contract wtih ATT is going to be over within a year or so. If they want, they can pick another provider and do business there. They might just make an iPhone that can run on CDMA network. Who knows though? The Storm will come down in price in a year or couple months. As of now it is a hot new phone.
